Workshop

EspaceVidéois a video-producing workshop that takes place in the Espace Grand Paradis area. Its aim is to train young professionals, students and film lovers on new digital technologies. In particular, they will learn how to use digital reflex cameras for producing videos of very high photographic quality. The workshop will give the participants the opportunity to get to know the most interesting parts of the Grand Paradis territory, as well as to deepen their knowledge and techniques on filming nature and cultural events. They will get to know every stage of a video production: from the screenplay to shooting and from editing to the distribution. The workshop will take place at the same time as Stambecco d’Oro Festival, from the 22^nd to the 27^th  of August 2011 in Cogne, Rhêmes-Saint-Georges, Valsavarenche, Villeneuve, Locana e Valtournenche. Workshop participants will attend to the screening of every competition film of the XV Stambecco d’Oro Trophy, in a different venue each evening. They will award the most technically accomplished film a special mention, the “Nikon Prize. The workshop work and a video clip about the area and the Festival will be presented during the final evening of Stambecco d’Oro. On the closing evening the emphasis will be put on the use of new technologies. There will be the preview of the trailer of the documentary Deerees, created by Filmakingfarm with the support of Nikon, the technical sponsor of this project.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

Period: from 23 to 27 August 2011

Who should participate: the project is addressed to 12 young professionals, students and film lovers who are interested in deepening their knowledge on new technologies for video production in a natural and cultural context.

Workshopprogramme: the programme foresees theoretical and practical sessions with field outings and  post production sessions. Participants, divided in two groups, will take turns in working on three main subjects and dealing with all stages of production: work set-up and screenplay, shooting techniques, editing and post-production.

Content of the workshop:

• Nature and setting shooting
• Creation of video-interviews
• Fiming of cultural events and of the Festival backstage. Teaching staff: teaching staff from FilmakingFarm, with Nikon School credits, and several speakers (film directors, critics, professionals of the field, leading personalities of the cinema field)

Registration fee: the registration fee for each participant is 300,00 € and includes the training, local transports and the stay. The organization is offering three scholarships for participating in the workshop for students from the Cuneo Art Academy. Scholarships will be granted by an internal commission on the basis of curricula.

Future opportunities: participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

Material produced during the workshop: a video clip in Italian about the 2011 edition of Stambecco d’Oro Festival and about the territory it is in, created by the workshop participants. The clip will be presented during the Stambecco d’Oro – Gran Paradiso International Nature Film Festival closing evening, and will be included in the Festival web site.
